No holiday to Seattle would be complete without seeing the ever popular Space Needle building. The Space Needle was built in the 1960’s for the Worlds Fair. It is more than 500 feet tall. Native American students will love the Tillicum Village. It is an island village where the local history of the Native Americas is experienced. You can learn about the various local tribes of Native Americans. You can taste their food. You can watch them dance like they did many years ago. There are story tellers and other practicing historians to give you a better understanding of their way of life.
While in Seattle you should try to see what it is like to ride on a ferry. From the water, you can see awesome views of the Cascade and Olympic mountains. You will get a great wide angle view of the famous Seattle skyline. I can imagine it is very impressive after sundown. Ferries are available for sightseeing tourists.
Complete the family’s vacation by visiting the Seattle zoo. Get back to nature in this well run zoo. Show the kids the real life versions of the animals you see in books or on the Discovery Channel. There is a wide variety of exhibits at the Seattle Zoo. They have everything from the simplest farm animal to elephants and giraffes. It will be a memorable part of any getaway for the children.
Young travelers who are sports fans can check out any of the impressive professional sports teams that call Seattle their home. The Seahawks and Mariners are two of the most popular. It may be difficult to acquire tickets though depending on their season. You could have a fun night out with your date by having a nice dinner accompanied by a game.
Seattle and Washington State are famous for their many wonderful microbreweries. In downtown Seattle you’ll find the Pyramid Brewery Alehouse as well as the Pike Pub and Brewery. You could also go on a tour and sample the brew at Redhook Ale Brewery in Woodinville, Rock Bottom Brewery at Rainier Square and the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant in Pacific Place. Try to find a better way to spend a rainy Saturday in Seattle.
